Background History
The Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery was first used in 1789 and is located in the city of Lexington, Virginia. One hundred and fourty-four confederate veterens, two Virginia governors and a southern civil war poet laureate are buried here. But the most famous burial here is that of Confederate General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
Investigation Data and Experiences
The area has some haunted history to it, particularly around the statue of Stonewall Jackson. Our group broke off into three seperate groups, team A consisted of Marty Seibel and Lisa Rose, Team B consisted of Roger, Kim and Weston Rexrode, and Team C consisted of Kristine Bunk and Melanie Duvall. The cemetery is quite large enough that all three groups were able to divide off and go in different directions without any distractions. Numerous photographs were taken along with strong/high emf readings, particularly towards the back end of the cemetery.
Both Kristine Bunk and Melanie Duvall of team C had feelings of a presence in the cemetery, especially towards the back end area. From here, they focused their attention on an area of two crypts that felt warmer than any other headstones or crypts they had touched. From this area they began to try to record evps. Lying the cassette recorder upon the top of one crypt along with some other possessions (crystals) they had with them, they settled in to do their investigative work from this point. Shortly after starting their recorder, they ask if anyone is here with them. Witin 10 seconds of this question, a faint male voice replys. Kristine even thinks she has heard the voice as it is being recorded but could not make out what it is saying.
After reviewing the recording on our computers and software, we believe to voice to say "pick up the crystal" or "don't forget the crystal". The wav file below is the original recording from their recorder without any enhancement being done to it. Please click on the link below to listen.
The crypts where Kristine and Melanie recorded their first evp.
This was the best piece of evidence we would be able to gather this evening in the cemetery. Kristine did some work with her dowsing rods and we were able to record a few more emf spikes in connection with some photographs for the rest of the evening.
Final Conclusion: Haunted
We were able to get results in nearly all phases of our investigation, with our best piece of evidence being the evp that was recorded in the back end of the cemetery. Emf spikes, movement from the dowsing rods all were in conjunction with some orb photographs that were taken. Even though orb photography is very much debateable, many appeared in photographs when asked to respond. For many of us, this was our third visit to this cemetery and everytime has yielded unusual results. With all we have recorded and our first genuine class A evp, I would have to say, we truly believe this place is haunted.
