TRAVEL GUIDE

St. Francis Inn

St. Augustine, Fl.

The St. Francis Inn, originally built in 1791, is constructed of native "coquina" limestone, a quarry stone made of
compressed shells.   Located in the beautiful historic district of St. Augustine, the Inn has much to offer visitors in
culture and heritage.   It is the oldest running inn in St. Augustine.   They also have a wonderful and friendly
staff.   They made us feel most welcome during our stay there, probably more so than any other inn we stayed at
during our ghostly travels!   A special thanks to Mary Mergener, whose smile and sense of humor was most
enjoyable.   She is a doll!   Now for more about the inn.

The inn is haunted by a slave girl named Lily and the story revolves around two 18th century lovers.   Lily had a
love affair with a nephew of one of the owners of the inn and they would meet up on the third floor.   The nephew
was a soldier and as the story is told, Lily got pregnant and the family of the nephew would not let it
happen.   Apparently they did not approve of the relationship.   It is told that she killed herself and the baby.

Both the soldier and Lily have been seen many times throughout the inn.   Many experiences have happened in
Lily's room such as being touched, sightings of Lily, and hearing voices.   Numerous women will report that their
pocketbook has been found emptied out and their lipstick missing.   It seems as though Lily has a fondness for
lipstick.   When you visit, ask for Lily's room.   You may also ask for Anna's room or Elizabeth's suite which
contains Anna's room, are also known to have some activity.

St. Francis Inn was visited by Marty Seibel and Lisa Rose in October of 2005.
