INVESTIGATION #007
Gettysburg Battlefield (Culps Hill)
Gettysburg, Pa.

Date Of Investigation: Ongoing (April 1-3, 2007)

Area Investigated: Culps Hill

Time: (April 1, 8-10 PM)   (April 2, 6-10 PM)

Investigators on Scene: Marty Seibel and Lisa Rose

Moon Phase: Full; 98-100% visible

History

During the Battle of Gettysburg, Culp's Hill was a critical part of the Union army defensive line, the right flank.    Holding
the hill was by itself unimportant because its heavily wooded sides made it unsuitable for artillery placement, but its loss
would have been catastrophic to the Union army.   It dominated Cemetery Hill and the Baltimore Pike, the latter which
was critical for keeping the Union army supplied and for blocking any Confederate advance on Baltimore
or Washington, D.C.

   Culps Hill Information

Like just about every area associated with the Gettysburg Battlefield, Culps Hill has had its share of stories over the years.
We like to visit the area often as it is a bit more peaceful and less travelled than many other areas of the battlefield.   Climbing
the observation tower at Culps Hill and viewing the area is one of our favorites.   Part of its haunted history is that there is a
beautiful blonde woman who is seen on the tower and in the area of the tower.   It is believed that she is from a more recent
time frame not associated with the battle of Gettysburg.

Connected with the battle, apparitions have been seen here, voices have been heard and many other unusual occurances.   Mark
Nesbitt has written many stories that people have related to him from Culps Hill in his Ghost of Gettysburg series.

Investigation Data

We were able to investigate here two nights.   Our first night (April 1), we arrived at Culps Hill at 8 PM.   Immediately as
Lisa and I approached the base of the observation tower, I snapped a photograph to my left where a cannon was with our
hp digital camera.   Below is that photograph.   I noted immediately that there were no insects in the area nor any
reflective surface that could produce what you see in the photograph below.   My camera strap was secured
around my wrist.   I immediately snapped another photograph and the orb had vanished.

Photograph Results:

50 pictures with hp Photosmart R607 (4.1 Mp) digital camera with 2 photographs of interest, 24 pictures taken with
Cannon 35 mm Sure Shot 150u camera with no photographs of interest

Below are close-ups of the photograph.   To the right, with the brightness toned down some, the image of a face appears in
the orb?   Could it resemble the face of US General George S. Greene, who was responsible for the defense of the Union
right flank at Culp's Hill.   This is pure speculation, please make your own conclusions.

Audio Results:

15 minutes using Radio Shack CTR-122 cassette recorder using LN cassette tape with an omnidirectional microphone
capturing one evp, 15 minutes using Panasonic RR-QR240 digital audio recorder with no results.

The following was recorded on April 2, 2007 using a Radio Shack CTR-122 cassette recorder using LN cassette tape with an
omnidirectional microphone.   It was recorded not 50 feet away from where the above photograph was taken the night
before.   Again, could this possbily be the general saying his name?   Speculation again but interesting nonetheless.

"George"   Culps Hill, Gettysburg Battlefield by Marty Seibel on 04/01/2007
"George"   (cleaned evp)

EMF FIELD TESTER--EMF-200A used and recorded three spikes ranging from 1.5 m gauss to 2.5 m gauss.

Personal Experiences

Both nights that we were here neither of us encountered any unusual experiences to report.   The second night (April 2nd) I
did travel down a trail to the an large Ohio monument, then proceeded down another trail about 50 feet to do some evp
work and take some photographs.   As is custom, I always take some photographs from behind to see if anything is
following me.   The photograph below was taken in such a manner, facing upward on the trail leading to
the observation tower.

Final Conclusion: Haunted (Ongoing)

While some of this evidence is very much debatable, particularly orbs with many paranormal groups, I genuinely believe the
orbs in the above photographs are of paranormal nature.   I can not come up with any explanation to debunk the moving
orb.   While we did not record a significant amount of unexplained data, we recorded enough that in my opinion, this
area of the battlefield is indeed haunted.   Another investigation of this area is planned upon our next visit to the
battlefield to further our claims of haunted activity, especially in the areas where we captured our evp
and orb photographs.
