Bonaventure Cemetery

Savannah,Ga.

Bonaventure Cemetery was founded on the site of a plantation in 1868 and was originally called Evergreen
Cemetery.   Bonaventure became the name in 1907.   Bonaventure Cemetery is one of the most popular tourist
attractions in Savannah.   The cemetery is famous because of the movie and book "Midnight in the Garden of
Good and Evil".    John Berendt's book was partially set in this cemetery, and the haunting cover photograph
was taken from the cemetery.    To view this cemetery is simply awesome, there are no other words to descirbe
it.   Spanish Moss draped trees, old tombstones, crypts, over-grown bushes, are surrounded by marshland and
rivers.   Wondering through this cemetery is quite an experience.
